Video Two - Who Are These People, Anyway???

Hello, Dear Readers!

This is my second installment in my new video series, "Katie's View, Too." I've titled it, "Who Are These People, Anyway???"

In my new book, "From This Day Forward," I chose to interview eight individuals and couples from a variety of age groups and life circumstances. Throughout my years of getting to know them, and communicating with them, I've found their stories unique and interesting. I guess I figured you might, too!

You can see me, and hear what I have to say by watching the video now:

As always, thanks for reading and watching. I hope to hear from you soon!

Love, Katie

Video One - From This Day Forward Intro...

Hello!

Perhaps you remember that last week when I wrote to y'all, I mentioned trying out a new video format to accompany my blog. I settled on the name, "Katie's View, Too" and decided to give it a whirl. Man... was it fun! I'm not sure that a middle-aged woman, sitting in her living room (family room, sun room, kitchen, office, and basically trying out every room in her house) should have THIS much fun... but fun I had!

I think I'll let the video (in other words, me) "talk" for itself. Here you have it...

As always, leave me a note with your thoughts. Oh, and as always, please be kind. Most of all, I hope it brings at least one smile - although, I count four smiles, myself.

Happy Reading and Viewing!

God's Blessings,

Katie

Video - Yes? No? Maybe so...?

Well, Good Morning, and welcome to Katie’s View...

It’s not often that I write a blog post bright and early on a Monday morning, but… when the urge comes upon me, I feel I have no choice but to roll with it.

I wanted to share an idea with you, and ask your opinions about something that happened. Last week, I was talking with my son, Tony, on the telephone. He asked me how my book sales for From This Day Forward… were going, and I filled him in. He congratulated me, and then said, “Mom, you should do a video, and announce the book to your readers in a new way.”  I’m guessing you already know what I was thinking - he’d lost me at the word, “video.” I laughed, and as I recovered, told him I was relatively sure he was wrong, and that I would not be doing that.

Later that day, I was talking with my daughter, Megan, and she also asked me how things were going with the new book. She congratulated me, and then said, “Mom, you should do a video, and announce the book to your readers in a new way.” … Yeah… I swear… you just can’t make this stuff up, right? Again, I laughed, and as I recovered, told her I was relatively sure she was wrong, and that I would not be doing that.

But their reactions, so similar, did give me a moment’s pause. Both of the kids run their own businesses. Many of you know that Tony is a professional musician, living in Nashville. Videos are an excellent way for him to share his new music, some old favorites, along with helpful information and thoughts on various topics.  www.tonymemmel.com  Megan also runs a business out of her home. She often hosts ‘live sales’ where she shows customers her clothing line in a format where people can better see colors, sizes, and freely ask her their questions. https://www.facebook.com/groups/LuLaRoeMeganScheinkoenig/

Hmmm… Is it possible that my children, each unprompted by the other, could be right…??? I decided to open my mind and let their idea sink in.

Over the weekend, I experimented with the video camera on my phone. The kids mentioned that recording outside can be too noisy, what with whooshing wind or nature noises; so for now, I avoided that. I positioned myself against a variety of backdrops to see what might be camera-worthy.

Once I felt more brave, I cleared my throat, and actually said, “Hello!” Yikes! Am I alone when I say that hearing one’s own voice can be a very weird experience? And yet, I must tell you I overcame my fear, and recorded several versions of some of the ideas I wanted to convey to you all. In the end, I had a lot of fun with the project, and actually loosened up enough to crack a joke or two. Oh boy… sounds like trouble with a capital T, doesn't it…?

So now, dear readers, I must ask you the burning question. What do you think about this idea? Would you like to see an example of what I’m talking about? Would you like to see and hear from me, occasionally?

Leave me a note, and tell me your opinion. The only favor I ask is that you be kind. You don’t have to like the idea, but please go easy on me. I do look forward to reading your responses.

Have a great week! Oh, and as always, Happy Reading!

"From This Day Forward..." Is Now Available!!!

Ladies and Gentlemen…

Drumroll, please…

I’d like to announce that my new book, From This Day Forward…, is now available.

That’s right! After a couple of years of thinking, planning, asking, interviewing, transcribing, editing, and creating, this project is finished. It is finished, and (in my opinion) it is beautiful.

From This Day Forward… is a compilation of extensive interviews with eight individuals and couples whom I believe have (or have had) good relationships and strong marriages. They’ve lived through difficult situations, and come out feeling closer to each other afterward than they felt before. They’ve loved, laughed, cried, fought, made up, loved (again)… over and over throughout life’s thick and life’s thin. Finally, they’ve lived to tell me their tale, and for that fact, I am very grateful.

This book would make a thoughtful Mother’s Day or birthday gift for any woman, regardless of her parental status or age. I can envision young people reading about some of the ‘good ole days’ and trying to picture what that life was all about; as well as ‘great grans’ reading about the more ‘new-fangled ways’ of meeting and dating. I’ll go out on a limb and say it’s a book for just about everyone. Also, I believe that most of my readers will recognize at least one of the couples, if not more. But each couple has first-hand relationship advice and wisdom to impart… that’s for sure.

All of that said, I’m very excited to share the book with all of you. It is available as a beautiful paperback book, as well as an electronic download. Both versions are available through Amazon. Here’s the link:

The paperback is also available directly through me. If you’d like a signed copy (or several), contact me via private messenger or e-mail, and we can work out delivery or pick-up details. My e-mail address is:  kkmemmel@gmail.com

In my last blog post, I laid out for you the process I used to create this book. Here’s the link to the post, in case you missed it:

This post would not be complete without mentioning this…

After I contemplated writing this book for as long as I did, and now seeing it come to completion, there is no doubt in my mind that I was ‘meant’ to do it. I believe that God has blessed and been with me throughout this entire project, and that he loves every participant of it. As I finish this post, I pray that he now blesses each one of my readers, as well. May you find a whole heap, or even a small scrap of wisdom, and be able to apply it in your own daily relationships, marriage, and life.

God’s blessings!
